Overview

Experience the excellent beaches and relaxing ambiance of the nearby island of Lana’i on this full day excursion. So close yet so different than Maui, Lanai is mostly undeveloped (populated by only a few thousand residents) and is privately owned by an American billionaire.

Upon arrival on Lana’i from Maui (about a 45 minute journey each way), you can choose to embark on a 1.5 hour tour of the historic town provided by a Lana’i-born local (included in price) or proceed immediately to the beach. Known as one of the best beaches in Hawaii, scenic Hulopo’e Beach has white sand curved around the clear, warm waters of a marine sanctuary with excellent swimming and snorkeling (and snuba, at extra cost), as well as tide pools with fish to explore. Chairs and mats are provided for lounging on the beach (and palm trees for shade), or you can play some beach volleyball or stroll the grounds of the beachfront Four Seasons Resort nearby. After a first class BBQ meal served to your table overlooking the harbor, sail back to Maui enjoying 2 premium adult beverages and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, as well as dessert.

Comfort, convenience, and safety are all optimized by the friendly and highly trained crew of the longest running tour operator in Maui and with exclusive transportation access to the renowned beach.

TravelShack's Choice

Why we recommend this option over others
  • Only tour that can transport guests to beach from pier (otherwise, 10-15 min walk)
  • Actually land on Lana’i and spend most of the day there (most other "Lanai" cruises never disembark but simply snorkel near it)
  • At the beach, guides serve as snorkel guide, lifeguard, answer questions, and watch your stuff so you can enjoy the water and beach safely and stress-free
  • Comfortable spacious boat with indoor and outdoor padded & table seating, as well as bathrooms onboard; a catamaran is also a more stable and less bumpy ride than smaller boats/rafts

Maui Revealed Guidebook:

Hulopo’e Beach is probably among the top 10 beaches in the state, with good swimming coupled with unreal snorkeling

Longest running operator on the island. Their Lana’i trip is worth it. Some of the friendliest crews and great BBQ meal. Their service is top-notch and makes others look pedestrian. They are the sole company allowed to operate this type of tour on Lana’i.

Lonely Planet Guidebook:

Lana’i is an isolated bit of subtropical pleasure. The vintage pineapple plantation town of Lana’i City is timeless. Hulopo’e Beach: Hawaii’s Top 20 Attractions; gorgeous with amazing snorkeling.

This family-run operation specializes in personable ecofriendly catamaran tours. Recommended.

Fodor's Guidebook:

Hulopo’e is an exceptional snorkeling destination.

Tour operator: Fodor’s Choice. Has a great reputation in the community, and many people consider this trip to be a highlight of their vacation. Energetic crews will keep you well fed and entertained with local stories and jokes.

Moon Guidebook:

It’s hard to find an outdoor playground more stunning than Lana’i, one of the Hawaiian Islands’ most exclusive getaways. Hulopo’e Beach has been voted one of the best in the country; home to one of the few reefs in Maui County that isn’t in a state of decline and it is famous for the Hawaiian spinner dolphins who enter the bay on a regular basis. Plantation-era charm of Lana’i City.

Tour operator has been setting the gold standard for 40 years.
