Overview

Set out on the clear warm waters looking for marine life and soaking up the beautiful views along the beautiful Kohala Coast! The 3 hour cruise will stop at one or more premier snorkeling stops based on the day’s weather and ocean conditions, where snorkel gear, marine life briefing, snorkel lessons, flotation devices, and a guided tour of the reef are available for you to enjoy the water. Relax on a spacious 50’ - 65’ catamaran, whether on the comfortable netting perched above the water, the sitting areas around the deck, or in the indoor cabin, and enjoy a deli style lunch buffet, soft drinks, and complimentary bar. The boats have easy entry to the water via staircases with handrails, as well as fresh water showers (via a hose with a shower head).

The boat departs from the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort beach, except Wed/Sat/Sun from Apr 16 - Nov 30 it usually departs from Kawaihae Harbor (no sailing). Cruise time is 10:30 am - 1:30 pm Dec 1 - April 15 and 9 am - 12 pm April 16 - Nov 30. Free pick-up service is available at most Kohala and Waikoloa hotels approximately 1 hour prior. Check-in for those driving themselves is 30 minutes prior.

COVID-19 UPDATE: The transport service is temporarily suspended during the pandemic. Also, total passenger capacity of the boat has been cut in half. Enhanced sanitation procedures have been implemented. Per local regulations, face coverings are expected to be worn except when eating, drinking, or in the water.

Booking Tip

Looking instead for a larger double-decker boat that leaves from Central Kona's harbor? Check out our other snorkel cruise, and compare them side-by-side.

TravelShack's Choice

Why we recommend this option over others
  • Convenient location only 5-15 min from Kohala Coast Resorts with free pickups, versus driving 40-60 min to Kona
  • Onboard marine naturalist provides in-depth briefing on marine life and snorkels with guests
  • Less crowded snorkeling spots than Kealakekua Bay in Kona (often only boat there)
  • Open bar with cocktails and local Hawaiian beer
  • Sailing (except Alala boat out of Kawaihae or if winds are not present)
  • Available flotation belts make snorkeling easier and more relaxing
  • Well-regarded business that has been a mainstay of the Kohala Coast for over 35 years and is still run by the original founders
