Kealakekua Bay is widely known as the best snorkel spot on the Big Island and one of the best in Hawaii. On this 4.5 hour cruise, you will have 2.5 hours for snorkeling and swimming in the calm warm waters of this protected bay, filled with tropical fish and often frequented by dolphins. On the spacious Fair Wind II catamaran, sit back with the plentiful comfortable shaded seating, use the thrilling two 15’ water slides and the high dive platform, and enjoy breakfast, BBQ lunch with grass-fed beef burgers, non-alcoholic drinks, and a cash bar. Snorkel gear, instruction, and flotation gear are included, as needed, and snuba is available at extra cost. On this trip to Kealakekua Bay, also experience a historical journey from the birthplace of a Hawaiian King to the place of death of the great Circumnavigator Captain James Cook.
You may also want to consider the luxury snorkel cruise on the Hula Kai, which often also goes to Kealakekua Bay. A detailed comparison between the two can be found on our snorkeling page.
Hawaii Big Island Revealed Guidebook:
The Captain Cook Monument in Kealakekua Bay is a favorite destination. Snorkeling near the monument is perhaps the best you will find anywhere in the state. If you've never snorkeled before, this is the place to start. Experienced snorkelers will be dazzled.
Fair Wind does a good tour, and people seem to really enjoy this trip.

Exceptional (highest rating)
I love Fair Wind. Located much closer to Kealakekua Bay than other options. Impressively equipped boats.
This video was produced in 2013. Some things have changed, including the upper deck now being mostly shaded (in place of sailing), as shown in the more recent photos above.
