Why Rent a Boat

Enjoy the freedom of exploring the coast on your own! By renting a motor boat from Kona Boat Rentals for a half or full day, you can customize your own adventure without being tied down by a tour, avoid the crowds, and, especially if you’re a group of at least 4, save money versus going out with an organized tour. As the skipper of your own boat, you can spot dolphins, whales, and other wildlife, snorkel or dive in the best spots, go fishing, check out an otherwise-inaccessible black sand beach, or just relax and soak in the views of the beautiful Kona coast.

Rental Details

No license is required, although boating experience is expected (or a captain/guide can be provided for $30/hour). You will receive a thorough orientation before departure. Extensive local tips and detailed charts provided, and GPS equipment will help you get to where you want. Fishing and snorkeling gear included. All boats have swim steps and ladders for easy access to water. Center consoles provide maximum space, beneath deck storage allows for clutter free decks, and built-in coolers keep food and drink cold.

To book more than one boat, please add each boat rental to your cart separately before checking out.

Top 10 Adventure

Seeing the area this way is a real hoot. It’s a great way to scuba, snorkel, or fish where and how you want.

The one sport that Kona is most famous for would probably be big game fishing. The waters off the Kona cast drop to great depths quickly and are teeming with big game fish. With calm sunny conditions 300 days per year and quick access to the fishing areas, Kona has become a magnet for first-timers wishing to try their hand at catching the big one.
