Pricing & Availability

Experience the lush scenery on the northern end of the island, including sweeping views of rolling green hills, the vast Pacific Ocean, and majestic seacliffs. On this guided hike through tropical rainforest on a private nature reserve, you’ll come across multiple picturesque waterfalls. Your knowledgeable guide will enhance your adventure with interesting information about Hawaiian culture, history, and agriculture. You’ll see a traditional taro field and learn how this ancient crop is grown and harvested. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to pick and taste fresh guava off the trees and exotic plants such as kava and ginger flowers. The climax for many is a (optional) swim in a idyllic freshwater waterfall!

Lunch is served at a private spot overlooking famous Pololu Valley with its iconic cliffs and a black sand beach.

A private version is now available! Pricing is $1,250, which includes up to 4 people and then $168 per additional guest. It also includes pickup/dropoff at most lodgings in Kona or Waikoloa. A private tour can be booked by selecting the second option (rather than Shared) in the booking form above. For larger groups (13+) or customizations, please contact us

Booking Tips

  • Not seeing availability on the only day(s) you can do? Please contact us, and we may be able to open up another day, at least as a private tour.
  • You can combine this tour with thrilling ziplining above the trees, also in North Kohala, with the Zip & Dip tour.

TravelShack's Choice

Why we recommend this option over others
  • The most reputable and longest running small group tour operator on the Big Island (almost 25 years)
  • Hike is on private land that the tour has exclusive access to, so no other tour groups or buses are around
  • Private lunch spot has unmatched views of famous Pololu Valley
  • You’ll learn a ton from expert guides versus any hike you do alone
  • This tour is focused on being in nature, not stuck on a tour bus. Many other waterfall tours just have brief stops for a quick photo.
  • Closest waterfall tour from Waikoloa/Kona

It felt like our own personal waterfall tour. Seeing waterfalls not available to the public made for a quaint, secluded day. And lunch overlooking the cliffs of the northern most part of the island was breathtaking. A must-do tour!

We joined as a group of three, and right away we were introduced to our “ohana” for the day. Our hosts, Nui, Mike and Mike were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful experience on our hike and swim, despite the wind and rain! We would recommend this tour in an instant and would love to go again someday! Thank you all for the greatest day with the loveliest views!
