Experience an authentic Hawaiian lu’au at the renovated historical grounds on prime oceanfront property in the heart of Kona. Hosted by the Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, you’ll enjoy a torch-lit evening of tasty Hawaiian cuisine and drinks, a display of authentic Polynesian activities, and stunning performances.
The Island Breeze Lu’au begins with a shell lei greeting and picture taking. Next, enjoy drinks from the open bar and participate in one of the many arts and crafts activities, including weaving coconut fronds, learning how to open a coconut, learning the art of hula, and getting a Polynesian tattoo. You can also take the time to meet and talk to some of the performers.
Later in the evening, there will a traditional imu ceremony in which a pig that has been cooking all day in an underground oven is unearthed. The Court Conch Herald and Court Chanter will then announce the arrival of The Royal Court aboard an outrigger canoe. You’ll proceed to enjoy an elaborate lu’au buffet with traditional Hawaiian cuisine – including Kalua Pua'a (pork from the underground oven), poi (an ancient Hawaiian staple food made from taro), and haupia (coconut pudding) – that will give you a true taste of the Islands. The open bar will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to serve you complimentary drinks like Mai Tai cocktails, wine, beer, sodas, and non-alcoholic fruit punch.
The finale of the evening is a spectacular emceed performance with Fijian and Maori dances of war, the graceful Hawaiian hula, and the courageous Samoan Fire knife dancer.
